More about our mission:
Keeping with the mission of Libby's Legacy, we assign advocates who help Stage IV Breast Cancer patients, giving them the gift of TIME! Libby's Legacy kicks off the partnership by assigning a patient advocate and then sends those Stage IV patients on a week long trip to Alaska or the trip of their choice!
It's the best way for my mom to experience those places—through the eyes and laughter of others. So instead of Extreme Home Makeover's "Move that bus!!", our goal is to "Move That Red Tape!!".

Libby's Story

Let me introduce you to the most amazing woman my sister and I have ever known...
Our Mom, Libby Maynard, was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2005 and endured a double mastectomy, chemo and radiation. Her attitude was amazing. She always had a smile on her face and had the most positive outlook even in the face of her own diagnosis. She had more faith than anyone we've ever known! She made it through her initial treatments and then was informed that the cancer was back in September of 2005. She worked hard and loved her job. Unexpectedly in November of 2005, she was let go from her job for being unable to perform her duties due to her cancer treatments. This loss added stress, financial hardship and insurance struggles to the battle she was already courageously fighting so hard to win. In January 2006, I took her for a second opinion. The doctor said the average woman in her condition lived three to five years. He told her to go do all the things she ever wanted to do. She didn't accept this opinion, of course, and with a smile on her face, said "Well, that's the average woman, and there's nothing average about me!".
My Sister, Marty and I asked our Mom what she always wanted to do but hadn't yet. She wanted to cruise to Alaska and she always wanted to see Italy. The cruise was planned for May.
She passed away 6 weeks later on February 28, 2006. We miss our Mom and we want change for cancer patients!
We Also want to prevent stage IV breast cancer and in keeping with that mission, Libby's Legacy gives breast health services to uninsured women in our community. We have given over 200 to date and have diagnosed 2 breast cancers and in doing so have literally saved lives through early detection
Help us spread the word, help us make change! Help us raise awareness and take care of our mothers, sisters, wives and daughters: OUR cancer patients! Let them enjoy their families so that they can fight this fight—not just surviving—but LIVING! Our mom was FUN. Our mom was strong. Our mom raised us to make a difference in this world and that's just what we intend to do!
Thank you for your support,
Robin and Marty Maynard
